Stock Scams That Madoff With Your Money!

By William R. Wiedow Ph.D.

It seems true to say, Barnard Madoff is the new Charles Ponzi. Investors put much faith in Madoff and considering the current state of things in the fanancial markets, it is a real shame that this man could betray so many good investors! At this point Madoff Type Stock Scams have really impacted countless people around the globe.

Mr. Madoff used to be a highly respected financier and former chairman of the NASDAQ. He recently admitted to administrating a ponzi stock scam that cost innocent investors over 50 Billion Dollars!

This is the sort of corruption that has ruined Wallstreet and Mainstreet! But for all the investors in the future let this be a text book lesson! We must learn from these kinds of scams in order to avoid this same type of horrible financial lost in the years to come.

You can think of Charles Ponzi in 1920 and Benard Madoff in 2009 and really what they did was the same thing. They both started an Illegal Pyramid to bilk later investors, I say later investors because even an illegal pyramid scheme makes great money for early investors. These early investors are used as unwitting salesman to sucker in later investors and the sales tool they use is their Ponzi/Madoff Easy Money!

Barnard Madoff's Empire like Charles Ponzi's Empire before him had a destiny of failure and an a appointment with the Big House. But at this point there is much to learn from these two scam artist, and we better take the time to learn because if we don't, guys like these could make all stock investors pennyless!

First of all, it is always important to diversify when investing. Madoff Type Stock Scams thrive on ignorant investors. Make sure to put your funds in a variety of investments. It is too risky to put every dollar of your financial assets into just one. Another tip is to avoid investments that look too good to be true.

Looking back on Madoff and his years of paper trail scaming, it seem impossible that anyone in their right mind could fall for this con artist! The stock market went up some years and Madoff made investors money and the stock market went down some years and Madoff made investors money? it's just a Fantastical Investor Fantasy! Not to say you can't make money in Bull and Bear markets, but it takes real investor savvy the kind that Madoff did not have one iota of. He just had the con artist savvy to relieve people of their money.

We pay taxes to support services to help us and some tax money goes to The SEC. But in The Madoff Affair The SEC did next to nothing? We all know YOU ARE TAKING A RISK WHEN YOU INVEST and this risk should be under the umbrella of The SEC, but it certainly was not in The Madoff Affair. Madoff scamed large banks savvy stock brokers, people with MBA's and more, so if you were just a Madoff average investor I would not feel too bad because Mr. Madoff got the best of them. Of course if you were a Madoff Victim there is a great website you can go to for help: bernardmadoffvictims.com

We just can't get away from the fact that we all get defrauded sometimes and for the individual investor it would be safer to stay away from risky Hedge Funds and stick with Mutual Funds, Bank CD's, Gold or Silver. This may not make you a smarter investor, but at worse you would have a better chance of retaining your investment captial. This year of 2009 being what it is you may just want to leave most of your cash in the bank. (c) 2009 William R. Wiedow Ph.D. - 23217

Choosing Between Secured and Unsecured Loans

By Rhonda Brown

They say that all men are born equal, but this is not true when it comes to finances. The fact is that a person's inherited family background, responsibilities, circumstances, and other factors, shore up and determine one's financial status. When there is a gross disparity between the income and the expenses in a person's life, they are forced to prioritize and there are circumstances when they are forced to borrow.

There are certain other purposes for which also people go in for loans. For instance, people who want to extend their homes, who want to go on an adventurous holiday tour, or who want to judiciously amalgamate all their loans into a single liability - all these people also shop around for loans.

There are two types of loans. One is secured and the other - unsecured. In a secured loan, the borrower is expected to give an asset as a collateral for the loan. The asset may be a home, a car, stocks or any other high-value item. If there is a failure in repayment of the loan, the lender has the right to sell the asset and that's how they will recover their dues.

Secured loans are safe for the lender because they have the asset as collateral for backing up the money lent. For the borrower, the advantages are that the rate of interest is cheap, the amount of money got as a loan is relatively high and the repayment period is also reasonably long. Even if the borrower has a poor track-record for credits, the lender may decide to approve the loan since the asset is there as a back-up.

In the case of an unsecured loan, the lender does not insist on any asset to back up the loan. He or she considers the track-record of the borrower and assess his credit-worthiness. Based on this assessment, the amount of the loan and the rates of interest are determined. But the lender will always have a recovery plan to recover the loan in case of default by the borrower. This recovery plan could be asking for a guarantor to sign the required documents to the effect that in case of defaults by the borrower, the guarantor is liable to repay the loan. In the case of an unsecured loan - the amount lent is also much less than in the case of a secured loan, and the repayment period will also be shorter.

The borrower need not possess any asset for taking the loan in the case of an unsecured loan. Hence there is no fear of losing any asset in case he or she fails to repay, though they may face a civil suit for this failure. They can plan their income and expenses in such a manner so that they pay back the loan smoothly because of the short duration of repayment in the case of an unsecured loan.

Sometimes, loans are raised to kick-start the borrower's business or for expansion of business. Other loans must be treated as temporary bail-outs. They are only quick-fix solutions. Borrowers should not get swayed by the availability of loans and become habitual borrowers.

Loans should be the last resort for people because usually lenders are very strict. Only in compelling circumstances, one should go in for loans. But if such a dire necessity arises, one should have perfect and unfailing plans to repay the loans. - 23217
