What a Good Forex Managed Trading Account is like.

By Bart Icles

Do you know what a managed Forex account is? This is a Forex account where a different person, called a trader, trades for you, who is the investor, knowing that it is actually your account. It's these people who trade your money. But they won't be able to steal anything from you; rather, they can gain or lose money for you instead. In many cases, the investor only observes the things happening going in his account but the trading goes to the other person. Two passwords are available for a single account.

One password is for the trader, and another is for the investor. The trader's password only gives him access to the power of logging in, getting orders, and trading. The investors' password gives access to everything, but it's usually only used for observing what is happening in the account. Managed accounts are divided into two, the doing-good-account, and the not-so-doing-good account. If your traders, also called account managers, show you (their clients) that they're doing a great job; you have to scout for some losses in the account as well. If you only see winnings and no losses, then there's something not right happening in the account.

Even the best traders in the best trading systems lose at some point in time, right? You have to keep on asking, "Where are the losses going?" To give an impression of what the account has done so far, the losing trades are left open while the winning are closed. The account balance grows when the winning trades alone are closed. This could be misleading because the real amount of money, or equity, in the account could keep on going down instead of the more convenient going up.

The account equity is computed by deducting the negative open trades plus the positive open trades to the account balance. A margin level is also present in the account. The account is in better shape and gets better as the margin level gets higher. The equation for this percentage is figured by dividing the used margin into the equity. By moving the decimal point of the answer twice to the right, you have your percentage.

Usually, when the margin level reaches 50%, they close the biggest open negative trade. To prevent any borrowing of money from the brokerage firms, they make sure that the account doesn't go below zero. This process is called a "margin call." In order to find honest, trustworthy, and faithful account managers to manage your managed account, you had better understand the basic idea of trading. When choosing the right trader for you, you better be smart and accurate. - 23217

Beginners Introduction To ETF Trading System

By Patrick Deaton

The type of ETF trading system that a person chooses is going to be a personal choice that will involve many variables. Depending on whether a person wants to invest in a software program, subscribe to a service, do the research on their own, or use a system that they come up with. There basically is no standard system that everyone uses when they trade.

The effectiveness of any trading system that one uses will depend a lot on the type of trading they are doing and the baskets they are trading in. A system that is geared for long positions will not do as well in a short position sector. So, a trader who is diversified in Leveraged or other types of risky ETFs will want to be able to adapt their system to meet the needs of the sector they are in.

When selecting a system, it is important to remember that there is no magic trading system out there that will be effective all the time. When people start using a system that they have been told is the magic bullet they are disappointed and frustrated very quickly. The ETF is made up of millions of small moving parts that each affect the trades taking place. A system that may work for one person might not be as effective for another. Finding the system that works for you will be developed over a period of time as strategies and systems are tried and discarded or altered.

The easiest system to start with that provides minimal risk and will get a traders feet wet is the EMA system. EMA stands for Exponential Moving Average. It involves following trends, and has a pretty decent risk rating. The ETFs most traded using this system are TLT, XLF, SMH, RTH, and a few others.

The crux of the system is that when the fast EMA crosses above the slow EMA a trader goes long. When the slow EMA crosses the fast EMA, the trader goes short. The rule is that a person has to leave or reverse their position the date after the fast EMA and slow EMA cross. And, when the rules have been set up on the days for the EMAs to cross, usually fifteen, the trader needs to stick to them.

Even this simple system will require that a person do the necessary research on each sector and follow their trends to make effective trades. It is important to set buy and sell limits so that one does get caught up in trading and lose more than they intended.

Setting up a risk allotment will also be important. Setting a percentage of the total capital one is going to risk on a position then moving when the threshold is reached will be beneficial. Adding to an account once it has crossed the threshold is not advantageous to gains. Setting the number of losing trades that one will have in a row and the percentage that will be cut back after that threshold is crossed will also avoid slipping into losses.

The most effective ETF trading system will be the one that works for the individual using it. When looking at different systems one must be as analytical as when they are planning on trading in a sector. Find out the consistent success of the system and how it worked in the sector that one is considering using it in. By discussing systems and strategies with a person who has knowledge of ETFs, trading strategies and systems, a person will be able to achieve successful trading within a short time. - 23217

Reasons For Investing In The Stock Market - Part 1

By Zigfred Diaz

In my previous articles, I gave a comprehensive introduction on how to invest in the Philippine stock market, particularly talking about the basic principles that each prospective investors should understand. In this article we are going to discuss the advantages of investing in the stock market.

As I said in the previous articles, the stock market is just another vehicle of investment. You might be asking yourself why would you want to invest in the stock market? What are the advantages of investing in the stock market.

The question could probably be best answered by the following. Be advised that the examples given refer to Philippine based companies and currency. Should you wish to view the article in its entirety please visit my blog.

1.) The allure of great returns - Most financial expert would tell you that in a bull run the market really goes up. Average returns could be as low as 30 % and as high as 200 %+ per annum or even more. Profit is always expected when you invest in the long term. For example, In 1997, the Globe Telecom Inc. (GLO) stocks price per share was only P152.00. during that time you only spend P 1,520.00 to buy the minimum board lot which is 10 shares. Currently the price per share of Globe is P 1,620.00+. The value of those 10 shares that you previously bought is right now P 16,200, meaning in ten years time your money has grown ten times. This is translated to an average of 30 % return per annum. This is far better than putting your money in a time deposit account at less than 4 % per annum. It is interesting to note that the Philippine stock market is at its highest these days. For the next 2 to 3 years, they say the market will still be in a bull run. Make the best out of this situation.

2.)"Ownership" in the companies that you are investing in. - Wouldn't it be so cool to have your own Jollibee franchise ? However the investment of 20 to 25 million pesos does not make it so cool considering that you also have to put in time and effort to run the store. So instead of owning a Jollibee franchise why not buy Jollibee instead through buying shares of stocks in the corporation ? The minimum board lot of JFC shares (Jollibee Foods Corporations - JFC) cost only P 5,000+. With this investment you indirectly own the more than 1414 stores in the Philippines and 175 in other countries not to mention Red Ribon, Chowking, Deli-France, A popular fastfood chain - Yonghe King in China and popular teahouse chain from Taiwan called Chun Shui Tang including Jollibee's pilot restaurant "Tio Pepe's Karinderia." So next time you eat at Jollibee tell your friends and that you like to eat there because you "own part of the company." You might want to own stocks of PLDT or Globe to help you become more prompt in paying your bills.

3.) You belong to a special group of people when you invest in the stock market -

When somebody will ask me to join a multi-level marketing scheme I always ask when the company started. The reason is that because if it started a long time ago, then my chances of recruiting other people will be slim because almost everybody I know has already been recruited.

But investing in the stock market is not multi-level marketing. It does not matter whether the market is saturated or not. But it's good to know that we are among the first to exploit the market's potential.

Statistics released by the Asian Development Bank shows that as of 2005, only 600,000, out of the of the country's 87 million population, invest in the stock market. If you do the math that is only 1 % or roughly around 0.7 % Most of the market players are from the Class A and B segments. - 23217
